Ivan specialises on international tax structuring and taxation issues.

Ivan has over 10 years of experience in advising Russian and international companies on corporate restructuring, taxation of foreign investments, international tax structuring of transactions, and Russian tax law. Ivan also has expertise in foreign exchange controls and counter-sanctions.

Prior to joining Orion, Ivan worked in the Moscow office of Dentons and in Birch Legal (ex. Eversheds Sutherland).

Ivan’s experience includes advising:

a major provider of contract logistics worldwide in connection with a tax audit and a tax dispute support in all stages of pre-trial settlement;

a major Russian consumer goods manufacturer on tax aspects of building a model of Russian and international corporate structure and financial flows;

a major Russian bank on tax aspects of the acquisition of an independent software developer;

a systemically important Russian insurance company on preparing for the acquisition of another Russian insurance company and conducting a comprehensive tax due diligence;

a global pharmaceutical, chemical and biological company on developing a policy for interaction with healthcare professionals;

a Russian online service on the redomiciliation of its holding structure from Singapore to Russia, including a comprehensive review of operational issues;

a private investment fund in Luxembourg on tax implications of coupon payments on Russian government bonds (OFZs) and a refund of withheld tax;

one of Russia’s leading maritime shipping companies on structuring its business in the Sultanate of Oman, including all tax and regulatory matters; and

a franchisee of an international hotel chain on withheld tax risks in Russia in connection with payments under a commercial concession agreement to the franchise owner.
