Maria has over 10 years of experience specialising in transactions in the transport sector on large asset acquisitions, financing and refinancing, operating leases, finance leases and related restructuring transactions.
Maria represents major Russian and international lessors, airlines and financial institutions in complex cross-border and domestic transactions in relation to aircraft and shipping acquisition finance, including debt financing, pre-delivery payment financings, leasing, sale and purchase, novation as well as repossessions.
Prior to joining Orion, Maria worked in the Moscow office of the international law firm Allen & Overy and at the law firm Better Chance.
Maria is recommended among the leading Russian lawyers in Shipping and
Transport Law (Pravo-300, Kommersant).
Maria’s work experience includes advising:
S7 Airlines on the insurance settlement with a group of foreign lessors, including AerCap Ireland Limited, SMBC Aviation Capital Limited and Air Lease Corporation, in respect of 45 medium-haul aircraft and 4 aircraft engines;
an international lessor on the refinancing of more than 26 dry bulk carriers structured through the sale and purchase of marine vessels with their subsequent instalment sale for an international logistics company;
GTLK Europe on the acquisition of two polar class expedition cruise ships supported by EUR 214 million ECA financing arranged by J.P. Morgan;
GTLK Europe on the USD 265 million refinancing arranged by PK AirFinance, DVB Bank, Credit Agricole CIB and Korea Development Bank, secured by three vintage Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, all subject to long term leases with PJSC "Aeroflot-Russian Airlines";
leasing companies on deferred payments under operating leases with various airlines in relation to portfolios exceeding 30 aircraft due to the pandemic of Covid-19; and
GECAS, VTB Leasing and VEB-Leasing in connection with the bankruptcy of Transaero Airlines and repossession of assets.
Maria graduated with honours from the Faculty of Law of the Moscow State University.
