Alexander is a Partner of Dispute Resolution Practice and a Head of Sanctions Practice. He represents clients in Russian and foreign courts and international arbitrations and has extensive experience in corporate disputes, international debt recovery and bankruptcy.
Prior to joining Orion, Alexander held the position of a Senior Associate in the Moscow office of Linklaters and before that worked as a Senior Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills.
Alexander's work experience includes representing:
one of the major Russian banks in Russian courts in connection with the bankruptcy of the Antipinsky Refinery, the largest bankruptcy in the Russian oil and gas industry;
an investment company as a defendant in a dispute on the invalidation of a number of transactions and the recovery of damages in the amount of EUR 200 million;
a major private Russian bank as part of the foreclosure on the debtor's assets, including shares in a Russian oil company;
a Russian major investment platform as a defendant in an ICC arbitration in London within the framework of a shareholder dispute; and
Royal Bank of Scotland in multiple insolvency and enforcement proceedings, including freezing of assets and other interim measures in Russia and Kazakhstan under a USD 300 million claim against a Russian and Kazakhstani agricultural company.
Alexander graduated with honors from Moscow State University of International Relations, where he received his Master of Laws degree.
