Orion Partners strengthens its positions on the M&A market.

Valentina Mikhailova has been appointed to the position of Senior Associate in the Corporate law practice. Valentina advises private investors as well as large international and Russian companies representing various industries. Among her key projects is advising Maxim Povalishin in connection with the acquisition of the Russian business of Freedom Holding Corp., and advising Avtodom JSC in relation to the acquisition of Russian subsidiaries of Mercedes-Benz. Her last transaction, which was closed in December 2023, was included in the special category “M&As: Transactions with Foreign Shareholders” of the national legal rating “Pravo-300”. Valentina received her Bachelor of Laws degree with honors as well as her Master of Private Law degree from the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University. Prior to joining Orion Partners, Valentina worked in the Moscow offices of BCLP and Hogan Lovells.

Dmitry Shunaev has been appointed to the position of Senior Associate in the Corporate law practice. Dmitry specializes in M&A transactions, private equity, joint ventures and capital markets transactions. He regularly advises clients on sanctions, counter-sanctions, regulatory and general corporate matters as well as corporate restructuring. Dmitry’s experience includes advising Sberbank in relation to the sale of 99.85% of shares in Denizbank A.S. (one of the major Turkish banks) to Emirates NBD PJSC, as well as advising VEON Ltd. in relation to the sale of Russian infrastructure assets to the Service-Telecom group. Dmitry also has experience in advising on financing-related issues, including project finance, public-private partnership and international arbitration. Dmitry graduated with honors from the Higher School of Economics where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Subsequently he also taught private international law at the Higher School of Economics. Prior to joining Orion Partners, Dmitry worked as an Associate in Herbert Smith Freehills and Allen & Overy.
